A new service launched on 1st April 2008. Fortis Healthcare is an NHS organisation which integrates healthcare for over 65,000 patients in the Southend-on-Sea area in Essex. Its aim is to efficiently manage the process of referral from the GP through to the patient being seen by the specialist or therapist. Fortis assists GPs when they need to refer patients on to more specialised care. All services provided through Fortis are free-of-charge NHS services. Fortis Healthcare is a Specialist Personal Medical Service organisation working within the National Health Service. Fortis Healthcare is owned and operated by the staff of its 9 practices.
