Fortis Healthcare operates a highly specialised and bespoke referral management centre for GP practices across the UK.

We understand it can be a worrying time for patients when they are told by their GP they may need onward specialist care. At Fortis Healthcare, we aim to ease those concerns by making the onward patient journey as quick and as stress-free as possible by working in partnership with clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and treatment providers.

Thanks to our team of specially trained GPs and bookings staff, we ensure referrals from practices are triaged safely and effectively, and appointments made quickly, and wherever possible in agreement with the patient by offering choice.

We pledge that referrals received from the GPs have appointments made for the patient within three working days.

We ensure all patient referrals:

• Are appropriate
• Are handled sensitively, sympathetically and safely, and triaged effectively
• Have complete information to ensure no further delays
• Are directed to the right place at the right time

Effective referral management has seen significant savings for the NHS. There has been a 10% reduction in the referrals we manage compared with 7% growth for the rest of the PCT. The reduction in referrals is equivalent to generating a 3:1 return.

We encourage peer review and education through our supply to member practices of regular and detailed reports showing referral patterns personal to your practice or consortium.
